Ikeja Electric announces another breakdown in the power grid.
Power distribution company Ikeja Electric has reported that it has encountered another system breakdown that has impacted the supply inside its power distribution network, following the collapse of the national energy grid on Monday night.
The disco made the announcement on Tuesday in a statement posted on their official X.com account.
The statement claims that continued work is being done to restore the power supply in collaboration with important stakeholders.
The text said, "Dear valued client, We would like to notify you that we had another system outage today, October 15, 2024, at 09:17 hrs. This disruption affected supplies inside our network.
Supply restoration is being worked on in tandem with our important stakeholders. Please be patient with us.
On Monday, around 6:18 p.m., the national grid failed, plunging the majority of people into darkness.
Power generation decreased from 3.87 gigawatts at 5 p.m. to 3.56 GW at 6 p.m. and 0.00 GW at 7 and 8 p.m., according to checks conducted by our correspondent.
In a statement released on Monday night, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company acknowledged the system meltdown.
