Kano gov dissolves 44 LG caretaker committee chairmen
According to a Thursday NAN report, Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has dissolved the interim chairmen of all 44 local government areas.
Sanusi Bature, the governor's spokesperson, revealed this in a statement.
The dissolution occurred one week after the state House of Assembly decided to extend their term by two months; it was originally scheduled to end on September 8.
Legislators stated that the purpose of the extension was to guarantee continuity in local government.
Elections for local government are slated for October 26.
The temporary chairmen have been instructed by Yusuf to transfer leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.
Yusuf declared, "This dissolution applies to all council members, secretaries, chairmen, and vice chairmen."
He was appreciative to the interim chairmen for their contributions to the development of their areas and suggested potential future collaboration.
