LAUTECH introduces Mass Communication, five other degree programmes

Prof. Razaq Kalilu, the interim vice chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has announced the addition of six new degree programmes to the university.

This was disclosed by Kalilu to the audience during the closing remarks of the university's 16th convocation event, which took place on Tuesday within the Great Hall of the building in Ogbomoso.

He emphasised that the institution's academic perspective was quickly evolving in an effort to accomplish the mission of the university and the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde, who was visiting the campus.

"The university established the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences with four academic programmes a year ago," the VC stated. We have added six more new degree options this year within that Faculty namely Psychology, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Yoruba, Theatre Arts, and Political Science. A Faculty of Law has also been established to run a degree programme in law.

"In order to receive permission from the National Universities Commission, all seven of the freshly announced curricula underwent Resource Verification in March of this year. We intend to begin admitting students for these programmes in the current academic year as soon as we have the NUC's approval. He declared.

During his speech, Prof. Ayodeji Omole, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the institution's Governing Council, urged the graduates to act as excellent representatives of the university.

"Remember that once you get your degrees, you are not just LAUTECH graduates but also representatives of the values your university upholds—knowledge, honesty, excellence, service, and advancement. Take pride in your study and let your deeds speak louder than words about the kind of education you have received. Omole gave advice.
