Lifters shine as Female Yellow Greens eye AG bronze
Ruth Ayodele and Joy Eze, who won three gold medals apiece in the 64kg and 71kg weightlifting categories at the ongoing African Games in Ghana on Tuesday, helped Team Nigeria win six more gold medals.
Following the routine on Monday, in which Edidiong Umoafia unlocked the floodgates with three gold medals, the lifters made a triumphant return to the University Ghana's GCB Hall, bringing Nigeria's total to 15 points.

In her subsequent Games visit, Eze also followed suit, winning three gold medals in the 71kg, 90 kg snatch, and 117 clean & jerk events to earn a total of 207kg.
On Monday night, Folashade Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye were also in action, winning three gold each in the women’s 55kg & 59kg respectively after Umoafia had won three earlier in the day.

In order to set up the match, the first two teams on the continent had to battle it out for silver and gold. The Female Yellow Greens lost by five wickets against Zimbabwe in the semi-finals, while Uganda lost by 50 runs against South Africa.
The Female Yellow Greens will not be encouraged by the Victoria Pearls' credentials, as they met and defeated a higher-ranked opponent in Namibia during the group rounds. Nigeria (27) and Uganda (18) are separated by nine spots in the T20 standings.
