Man stabs four to death in US

A man went on a stabbing spree at several residences in the US state of Illinois, killing four people—including an adolescent girl—and injuring at least five others, according to police.

In a statement, Rockford City Police reported that a 22-year-old suspect had been brought into custody and that the stabbings had occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

Nothing concerning a potential motivation was mentioned in the statement.

About 90 miles northwest of Chicago is where you'll find Rockford.

The police reported that two males, ages 49 and 22, a lady, age 63, and a daughter, age 15, were among the deceased.

While the police statement stated that five individuals had been hurt, US media subsequently quoted the authorities as stating that seven people had been hurt.
