Man United offer Hojlund plus cash for Osimhen
Victor Osimhen, a 25-year-old striker for Napoli, is a target for Manchester United, who are apparently planning a player-plus-cash deal for him.
The Nigerian has been connected to teams like PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal, but United is also very much in the running, according to a report from CalcioNapoli24.
The Red Devils reportedly made an offer of cash plus Rasmus Hojlund, a striker, in exchange for the Napoli player. It would be intriguing to see if the Italian powerhouses would accept such a bid.
Hojlund made a strong impression in his first season in England after joining United last season. If they were to approve of his leaving, it would be very unexpected. The Danish international is a gifted player with a promising future who has the potential to be an important member of the team.
Osimhen has been Napoli's best scorer for the last two seasons, including the Scudetto-winning 2022–23 campaign, but Napoli is ready to cash in on him this summer.
After establishing himself in Italian football, he might try his luck in a different league, with the Premier League being mentioned as his potential next stop.
The Nigerian's release clause was set at between €120 million and €130 million after he signed a contract extension with Napoli, but that number has proven problematic for potential suitors, leading the club to lower Osimhen's asking price to €100 million.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that although Napoli has been expecting proposals from teams like Chelsea, United, and PSG, no formal contact has been made.
Last summer, a Saudi Arabian team made an offer for Osimhen that the club turned down for more than €200 million.
For an estimated €75 million, Osimhen was acquired from Lille in 2020, and since then, the Nigerian international has become one of the most exciting strikers in world football.
