Mbappe fit for Intercontinental Cup final in Doha

After recovering from a thigh injury, Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe will go to Doha for this week's Intercontinental Cup final, the Spanish team announced on Monday.

After scoring in last week's 3-2 Champions League victory at Atalanta, Mbappe pulled up with a left thigh issue and was unable to play in Saturday's 3-3 league tie against Rayo Vallecano.

However, the 25-year-old will be included in the squad for the Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday at Lusail Stadium versus Pachuca, a Mexican club.

Regarding their last practice before the trip to Doha, Real stated, "Mbappe did some work with the rest of the squad and some on his own."

With one game remaining, Real Madrid is one point behind leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in third place in La Liga. They will face Sevilla on Sunday.

As the 2024 UEFA Champions League champions, Real Madrid advances straight to the final of the Intercontinental Cup, which brings together the winners of continental competitions.
