NDA President urges workers to prioritise workplace safety
Dr. Tope Adeyemi, the President of the Nigerian Dental Association, has called on employees to put workplace safety first, stressing its significance in promoting productivity and upholding a healthy work environment.
He said as much in his speech on May 1 in honour of International Workers Day, but he also counselled employees to take care of their dental health and follow suggested practices to avoid mouth disorders.
This year's subject for International Workers' Day (IWD), commonly known as May Day or Labour Day, is "Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate." IWD is a global celebration of workers worldwide.
The International Labour Organisation demanded that social justice be given additional urgency and dedication, especially in view of climate change and the swift changes taking place in workplaces globally.
In order to prevent common oral diseases, the Nigerian Dental Association exhorts its members to be mindful of their oral health, take deliberate steps like brushing twice a day, morning and night, with toothpaste that contains fluoride, and schedule dental visits twice a year.
"Nigerian workers should prioritise workplace safety in order to foster ergonomic work environments, healthy work environments, and higher productivity."
Adeyemi also gave Nigerian labourers credit for their commitment, tenacity, and creative problem-solving in overcoming obstacles to get desired results.
He recognised their major contribution to nation-building and underlined their critical role as the engine behind the country's productivity.
Adeyemi also demanded that workers' rights be continuously promoted and safeguarded.
The dentist went on, "This year's International Workers Day theme is appropriate since it emphasises worker empowerment via the creation of a resilient workforce that easily accepts everyone in an inclusive setting.
Indeed, there are a lot of difficult obstacles in the Nigerian workplace. Resilience is a crucial quality to aim for in this setting. Fortunately, there are causes for celebration for Nigerian workers. Congratulations to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for approving pay increases and reforms aimed at enhancing worker welfare and productivity.
