Nigerians blast Sky Sports for excluding Lookman in Europa League graphics

Nigerians are upset and disappointed that Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman was left out of a graphic commemorating Atalanta's Europa League victory by British media company Sky Sports.

On Wednesday night, Lookman created UEFA Europa League history by becoming the first player to score three goals in a match.

Outrage has been generated by the omission, with many criticising Sky News for their negligence.

Lookman's Atalanta shocked Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, snapping their 51-game winning streak in all competitions as the Bundesliga champions.
In addition, this was Atalanta's first major title triumph since 1963 and their first-ever UEFA Europa League victory.

With his third goal of the match in the 75th minute, Lookman earned the game's MVP.

Before adding a historic third goal, Lookman's first-half brace made him the first African to score two goals in a major European competition final.
With the caption, "BREAKING: Atalanta have WON the Europa League after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final in Dublin," Sky Sports uploaded an image to its X handle on Wednesday night. But the only people depicted in the picture were Teun Koopmeiners and Gianluca Scamacca.
The post has drawn criticism from users online, particularly on X.com, for leaving out Lookman, who was responsible for all three goals.

Nse Ikpe-Etim, a Nollywood actress, tweeted, "This is shocking," under the handle @NseIkpeEtim. Ademola Lookman scores a stunning hat-trick, yet you were unable to utilise one of his photos. You certainly are capable of more.

Under the handle @fisayosoyombo, investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo also tweeted, asking why Nigerian football player Ademola Lookman—who scored all three goals that won Atlanta the trophy—was not featured in your cover photo. Together, all of you @SkyFootball are an incredible joke!

You are reporting the final without the history creator, remarked a photojournalist who tweets under the handle @PoojaMedia. We must exalt ourselves to the skies, but de@d brains will draw us down. Una see right now?

@Xandyy Jay, another X user, stated, "This act is condemned by the entire world." You're capable of more. I should come here first, Ademola Lookman. Why do you have such a bias?
Lookman appeared in a new graphic artwork made by user @Afc_Saks, who captioned it, "Fixed it!"
