NiMet predicts three-day dust haze, warns against loss of lives
Dust haze is expected throughout the nation from Monday to Wednesday, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.
To prevent loss of life and property, the agency urged agencies, individuals, and disaster risk managers to take proactive measures.
According to NiMet's weather outlook, which was made public on Sunday in Abuja, there will be a moderate dust cloud on Monday. During the forecast period, localised visibility of 1,000 metres is anticipated over the northern region.
It states that during the forecast period, inland states and the North Central region should experience moderate dust haze.
"Over the coastal belt, patches of clouds in an ethereal atmosphere are predicted, with little chance of isolated thunderstorms over sections of Lagos State in the afternoon and evening.
Throughout the forecast period on Tuesday, a moderate dust haze is anticipated over the northern region and the North Central states.
Over the course of the forecast period, a moderate dust haze is also anticipated over the inland state.
It stated, "Throughout the forecast period, patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the coastal states."
NiMet predicts that on Wednesday, a light dust haze will be present over the northern area for the duration of the forecast.
Throughout the forecast period, the agency anticipated a moderate level of dust haze over the North Central and Inland states.
Throughout the forecast periods, it predicted patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere over the coastal states.
The public should take the appropriate safety precautions because dust particles are in suspension. People who suffer from asthma or other respiratory conditions should exercise caution due to the current weather conditions.
“Airline operators are advised to get updated with a weather report from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
