No life lost in LASUTH fire incident, says CMD

The information and communications technology unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja was completely destroyed by fire on Thursday.

Both hospital staff and patients were terrified after the fire. According to reports, the fire broke out at 2:00 pm.

No lives were lost in the fire event, according to Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, who stated in an interview that the ICT unit's overheated equipment was the source of the fire.

In order to keep the fire from spreading to other locations, he disclosed that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service made sure it was contained within the room where it started as soon as possible.

It was a small fire that was extinguished in five minutes, according to the LASUTH CMD. The fire incident has been overblown; it does not exist. A spark appeared from some equipment in our ICT room that had overheated.

"We called the fire department right away, and they arrived and extinguished the fire." And that's it. There were no reported injuries or fatalities.

However, the CMD declared, "Well, there will be damage but no casualties." However, a few appliances and furniture were involved. It took place from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. Right across from us is the fire department. They arrived in just two minutes and extinguished it.

It was stated that a fire event happened at on May 31, 2023 at food shops within the premises of LASUTH.
