Protest: Rep urges Nigerians to embrace dialogue
Olusola Fatoba, the member for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, has urged young people in Nigeria to abandon the planned statewide demonstration against the nation's ongoing economic suffering.
During a conversation with reporters in Ado-Ekiti, Fatoba made the appeals, asking the protest organisers to engage in open communication to address all of the issues they had brought up.
The head of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, and Ethics advised the protest organisers to reconsider their choice to stage a demonstration because communication is always preferable to conflict.
He urged Nigerians to be patient and give President Bola Tinubu more time to explain his vision for the nation, pointing out that the latter had taken decisive action to confront the current economic situation.
"President Bola Tinubu is doing everything possible to fix the problems that are threatening the survival of the country," he stated. You will concur with me that the President is working nonstop and is not slouching around.I hope that instead of protesting, Nigerian young will embrace discourse. Protest now will not benefit Nigeria; on the contrary, it will make matters worse.
"I urge all of our young people to abstain from protesting for the sake of national advancement and peace. Given the overwhelming obstacles the President of Nigeria faces in moving the nation towards growth, protest should be the furthest thing from Nigerians' thoughts.
Even though Nigeria is now experiencing difficulties, according to Fatoba, a structural adjustment would allow the nation to find a long-term solution to the numerous socioeconomic problems it faces.
Yes, President Tinubu is taking a bold approach to addressing the socioeconomic problems facing the nation. He continued, "The youths should work with President Tinubu to fix the country rather than starting protests that would disrupt economic activities."
