Renewable energy: FG partners China on local production
The Federal Government said that, in collaboration with Sinoma International Engineering Company, a company based in China, it intends to localise the manufacturing of renewable technology.
This was the main topic of conversation at Tuesday's meeting at Sinoma International Engineering Company's Beijing headquarters between Ajuri Ngelale, Nigeria's Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and the company's executive management.
Ngelale stated that the conversations consistently focused on the significance of localised production in order to lessen dependency on imports and foster economic growth in a brief made available to State House correspondents on Tuesday.
The discussion, which was attended by Mr. Zhu Bing, President of Sinoma, and Mr. Yin Zhisong, Chairman of the Board, covered a number of topics of shared interest, such as the restoration and decarbonisation of mining techniques.
Ngelale called out Sinoma's proficiency in decarbonising mining methods, environmental assistance, and restoration, as well as automation of manufacturing processes for carbon capture, utilization, and storage, wind blades, and other technologies.
"I held substantive discussions with the Executive Management of Sinoma International Engineering Company at their Beijing headquarters on Tuesday," the brief stated. Mr. Zhu Bing, the company president, and Mr. Yin Zhisong, the board chairman, were also there.
We went into great detail on every item on the agenda and discussed a wide range of critical topics of shared interest. Sinoma has demonstrated incredible expertise in decarbonising mining practices while providing complete ecological support and restoration. Additionally, Sinoma has developed cross-cutting automation of several manufacturing processes for CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation and storage), wind blades, and other critical technologies, the production of which Nigeria is currently rapidly localising (from assembly to end-to-end).
"Today was a very fruitful and significant engagement, and there will be more in the coming days."
According to Ngelale, the discussions on Tuesday will advance Nigeria's renewable energy industry, generate employment, and lower greenhouse gas emissions in line with the country’s climate action goals.
