Ronaldo breaks Saudi Pro League scoring record
Cristiano Ronaldo scored goals for the 34th and 35th times in Al Nassr's season-ending match, shattering the record for the most goals in a Saudi Pro League season.
Following the game, the 39-year-old Portuguese forward tweeted, "I don't follow the records, the records follow me."
On Monday, Al Nassr overcame Al Ittihad 4-2 at home thanks to goals from the former Real Madrid and Manchester United player in stoppage time in the first half and again in the 69th minute with a header.
The previous record for the most goals in a season was set by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah in 2018–19 with 34 goals.
Al Nassr finished a whopping 14 points behind winners Al Hilal, ensuring them of a second-place finish.
In December 2022, Ronaldo signed a lucrative contract with Al Nassr, a team based in Riyadh. This marked the beginning of an inflow of foreign players into the Saudi league.
Ronaldo, who won the 2016 European Championship with Portugal, has been added to the team for this year's competition, which takes place in Germany next month. This will be his 11th international competition.
With 206 games and a record 128 goals, he is the most capped player in men's international football.
