Troops kill 11 terrorists, recover military uniforms, weapons
In two distinct operations, the Nigerian Army killed eleven terrorists in the states of Zamafara and Katsina.
A raid on terrorist kingpin enclaves in the United States resulted in the terrorists' deaths.
Two of Hassan Yantagwaye's men were murdered in a gunfight that broke out during an operation to raid the terrorist leader's stronghold in the Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamafara.
This was said in a Monday post on X by the Nigerian Army.
"Nigerian Army troops deployed for Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Insurgency operations in Katsina and Zamfara states have raided terrorists' enclaves in a series of coordinated operations, resulting in the elimination of a significant number of terrorists," the statement stated.
On March 29, 2024, forces in Zamfara State conducted a successful raid on Hassan Yantagwaye, a well-known terrorist leader, at his hideout in the Tsafe Local Government Area. In various areas of North-West Nigeria, Yantagwaye and his organisation have been implicated in kidnappings and acts of terrorism.
In the course of the operation, three terrorists were neutralised by the military, who also took control of a sizable cache of weapons and ammunition. The terrorists' camps were also destroyed by the troops.
Eight terrorists were killed in the operation that took place in Katsina, according to the post.
From the terrorists, weapons and military gear were found.
On March 30, 2024, in Katsina State, the valiant military and terrorists in Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi in Kabai I and Kabai II inside Faskari Local Government Area engaged in a violent gunfight.
"The military eliminated eight terrorists and retrieved military gear, three locally made firearms, and a substantial quantity of pilfered grains," the report continued.
It was also reported by the service that troops seized illegal substances in Ogun State and arrested armed combatants in Ebonyi.
"On April 31, 2024, troops conducting night patrols in Ebonyi State encountered armed Effium militias along Urban Effium in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State," the service continued. In a battle that saw the troops defeat the militias in a combat engagement that followed and captured one of the militias.
“The troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The suspect is currently undergoing a preliminary investigation.
At Molegede village in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, on March 29, 2024, troops seized 441 wraps of a material thought to be Cannabis Sativa.
Once the drug dealers fled, leaving the car behind when they saw the army approaching, the watchful soldiers discovered the illegal drugs being transported in a Mazda saloon car. Following preliminary investigations, the relevant agency will receive custody of the vehicle and illegal materials.
