2024 UTME: 174 Deeper Life school students score above 300
Nigerians on social media were stunned to learn on Friday that, nationally, 174 students from Deeper Life High School campuses achieved a score of 300 or above on the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The 174 kids were shared by the school via its official Facebook page, @Deeper Life High School.
"Astonishingly, 174 students from DLHS outperformed expectations with flying colours by achieving 300 and above in the 2024 UTME, despite JAMB's announcement that only about 0.5% of applicants nationwide got 300 and above,” the school stated in the post.
Ayeyemi Godsgift Ibukunoluwa was this year's top scorer, with 362 points overall out of a possible 400, according to information gleaned from the school's Facebook page.
You may remember that the school turned out the top UTME scorer in 2023. Umeh Kamsiyochukwu, who scored 360 points overall in the 2023 UTME, was the top scorer.
Out of 1,842,464 candidates, 1,402,490 did not receive a score of 200 out of 400, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Through its registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the examination body had declared that, among other things, the board views the UTME as "just a ranking examination." For this reason, it has decided not to reveal the identities of the candidates who scored the highest in the recently finished UTME.
Additionally, the board warned Nigerians not to trust candidates who display printed result slips because there isn't one available at this time.
Facebook users from Nigeria have praised the top-performing pupils in the meanwhile.
"Congratulations everyone, it takes godliness, discipline, and commitment to achieve such great results," wrote a Facebook user who shared via Thomas Ewa.
As she congratulated the school's top scorer, Olumu Peace, another Facebook user, said, "Congratulations, Ayeyemi🎉🎉🎉." The Delta Campus is pleased with you.
Oluwafemi Ajayi James said, "This is quite incredible, congratulations to DLHS family," in the school's post's comment area. Leadership above reproach!
