AFCON 2023: Five young players to watch

Similar to past editions, a number of teams have opted to include youthful players who will get the chance to display their skills in front of a global audience.

A list of the top five young players to keep an eye on during this competition is provided by CAFOnline.com:
Camara Lamine (Senegal).

Lamine Camara, who is only 20 years old, has made 17 appearances, one goal, and two assists this season, all of which have helped the French team Metz.

After scoring for Senegal against South Sudan on November 18, 2023, in the World Cup 2026 qualifying tournament, Camara soon won coach Aliou Cisse's trust.

Cameroonian Wilfried Nathan Douala

Wilfried Nathan Douala, who was born in Douala on May 15, 2006, surprised everyone by being included on Rigobert Song's list for the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.

The 17-year-old, a midfielder for Victoria United in the top division of Cameroon, won over the coaching staff with his amazing technical ability and stellar league performances.

Karim Konaté, the Ivorian

June 2022, one and a half years ago, was Karim Konaté's Konaté, who was born on March 21, 2004, is still impressive and will be a highlight for the Ivorian supporters during this CAN that is being hosted at home.
Amir Richardson, 21, who moved from Le Havre to Stade de Reims this season, has had an almost flawless start to the campaign.

The towering 6'5′′ midfielder, whose impressive statistics show three goals in 14 matches, clearly influences Reims' play.

He was one of the surprises in Walid Regragui's 27-man squad because of this performance, which earned him a spot.
