
Ahmadu Bello University gets new vice-chancellor
The new vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria is Professor Adamu Ahmed.
Malam Auwalu Umar, the university's director of public affairs, said in a statement on Wednesday that he takes Prof. Kabir Bala's place.
Chairman Mahmud Yayale Ahmed presided over the 209th (Special) Council meeting, where the appointment was announced early on Wednesday.
Ahmed was the Director of the Directorate of University Advancement before becoming a lecturer at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
In addition, he serves as the Federal University of Education, Kano's pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council.
Stakeholders have praised his hiring, calling him an accomplished administrator and scholar.
