BREAKING: FG declares Friday public holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has announced that Friday will be a public holiday in observance of the 2025 Eid-ul-Mawlid, which celebrates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and around the globe on this significant occasion, encouraging a moment of reflection on the values of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion that the Prophet exemplified.

"These values are crucial for fostering a united, prosperous, and progressive nation," he stated.

Additionally, the Minister urged all Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to pray for peace, security, and stability within the country, while also supporting government initiatives aimed at achieving national harmony and sustainable development.
