Domestic worker, others cut septuagenarian’s genitals
A domestic worker, Onyebuchi Ezeh, alongside two other fleeing suspects, has allegedly used a sharp object to cut some vital organs including the genitals of a 72-year-old woman in Umunze, in the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the septuagenarian was at her residence when Ezeh led the two other suspects into the premises on Thursday.
While on the premises, the suspects pinned down the 72-year-old woman, brought out a sharp object and reportedly used it in cutting the woman’s genitals, ear, nipple, and fingers, among others.
After perpetrating the crime, the suspects fled and abandoned the septuagenarian for dead.
In a desperate attempt for survival, the aged woman, while writhing in pain, raised the alarm, and neighbours, who heard her cry for help, rushed her to the hospital for medical intervention.
It was learnt that Ezeh was later arrested and during interrogation, he confessed that he and his accomplices committed the act on the instruction of a yet-to-be-identified native doctor, who promised to make them rich if they brought the required organs.
Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the media assistant to the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, who confirmed the development to our correspondent on Sunday, said the aged woman was recuperating at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, in the Amaku Awka area of the state.
Ikeanyionwu also said the commissioner had visited the septuagenarian to monitor her condition.
Ikeanyionwu said, “The incident was discovered after the victim raised the alarm on Thursday. One of her workers alongside two other men stampeded her in her house and cut off her genital organs including her nipple, ear, and fingers, among others.
“The culprit, Onyebuchi Ezeh, who was later caught, confessed that they were sent by a native doctor to get the needed organs of the 72-year-old woman in order to become billionaires.
“The suspect hails from Abakaliki in Ebonyi State, and usually helps the victim in cutting palm trees. He was said to have explained that they embarked on the act because they wanted to get rich according to the assurances of the native doctor.”
Ikeanyionwu said the commissioner expressed sadness over the development but assured the victim that other persons involved in the crime would also be apprehended and charged to court.
According to her, the suspect is currently at the State Criminal Investigative Department of the Anambra State Police Command, Awka, and will soon be arraigned before the Children and Gender Based Violence Magistrate’s Court in the state.
