Edo CJ swears in Omobayo as new deputy governor
On Monday, Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa administered the oath of office to Marvellous Omobayo, the recently appointed Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Based on his publicly available online profile, the newly appointed deputy governor is an engineer with a proven track record of advancement in the oil and gas industry.
In his inaugural address, Omobayo expressed gratitude to the Peoples Democratic Party leadership and his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, for deeming him deserving of the position.
He declared, "This is my legal acceptance speech, and I have just taken the oath of office." It outlines the legal bounds that I may or may not cross while holding public office. I must openly thank our esteemed Executive Governor, His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, and the leadership of our wonderful party, the Peoples Democratic Party, beyond this formal legal ceremony.
"Our governor is determined to finish his second term very strong, despite all the extremely painful and thought-provoking distractions of the last few months." He is adamant about leaving Edo State with a legacy of harmony, peace, advancement, and discernible development, as I have seen from our conversation. A legacy that the incoming PDP government would find exciting to proudly expand upon and uphold Edo's long-standing leadership position in the Nigerian states.
Omobayo was born in the State's Akoko Edo Local Government Area on July 19, 1986.
Having completed an MSc in Public Administration and a B.Eng in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Benin, he is qualified for the position of a professional and an expert in public administration.
He is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
A young professional with a strong background in operations, he works as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited. He gains experience in the South-South region by growing the company and offering excellent services.
He has also been involved in local government politics, breaking down political barriers to the dismay of his rivals by fostering relationships of trust with the populace and inspiring them to support shared causes.
