Edo cultists kill rival in daughter’s presence, abandon getaway car

On Tuesday, there was unrest in Auchi, Edo State, where a violent altercation between members of opposing cults killed an accused Eiye member in front of his daughter.

The attackers, who are thought to be Aye Fraternity members, reportedly drove a Lexus to the spot, according to social media accounts.

The event was reported on X on Wednesday by NaijaConfra, a social media organisation that aims to eradicate homicides in Nigeria that are tied to cultism.

According to Naija Confra, the assault was a form of retaliation carried out by Aye gang members following an earlier attack on Emma, an Aye member who was killed in Auchi on Monday.

As the events of yesterday were a retribution for that attack, "Naija Confra can now confirm that the Aye member named Emma, eliminated in Auchi on Monday, whose assailants were initially unknown, was indeed carried out by members of Eiye," the statement on its X website stated.

According to the reports, the attackers struck quickly and left their car and weapons behind, even though the victim's daughter was present.

The attackers were reportedly forced to flee the site by the pursuit of local vigilante group members.

According to Naija Confra, the event happened in Auchi, behind Farnet.

The corpse was seen lifelessly laying on the floor in an internet video.
The car that the suspected offenders had abandoned was captured on another video.
Regarding the event, the Edo State Police Command has not yet released an official statement.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the public relations officer for the state police, denied knowledge of the incident when approached.

While he verified the occurrence, he urged that our reporter give him another call in an hour.
