Edo SDP endorses Enabulele, merges with Accord Party.
In anticipation of the Edo governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has partnered with Accord to endorse Dr. Bright Enabulele as their party nominee.
This partnership supports Enabulele, the Accord candidate running to replace Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Enabulele greeted the SDP members warmly and emphasised their shared dedication to reforming governance and upholding democratic principles.
Enabulele said, "We are ecstatic to welcome SDP members into the Accord fold."
“Their decision to join us exemplifies a collective desire for democratic governance and a departure from autocratic practices.
"Together, we are committed to empowering the knowledgeable to lead and providing the innovative, inclusive leadership that every Edo indigene deserves."
Members of the SDP are generally unhappy with the current political environment, which they view as dictatorial, and this is reflected in the merger.
"We are weary of the entrenched autocracy and lack of progress in Edo State. Joining forces with Accord demonstrates our commitment to change and to the pursuit of a more transparent and accountable government," said Yakubu Asimu, the Deputy Chairman of the SDP in Edo State, in response.
