EFCC officers to face disciplinary panel over alleged assault on woman
A disciplinary panel has been established by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to look into allegations of abuse against a lady made by two of its agents on Thursday during a raid in a Lagos hotel.
The errant officers were scheduled to appear before the panel on Monday, according to a statement released by the organization's spokesman, Dele Oyewale, on Monday in Abuja.
According to Oyewale, the disciplinary panel was established by EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede to investigate the allegations of two commission officers who went astray and assaulted a female employee of the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.
The officers were previously seen attacking hotel employees in an early-morning sting operation on Thursday that was captured on camera and went viral.
"Olukoyede has ordered the two officers to be arrested and has directed them to appear before a joint disciplinary team consisting of the Department of Ethics and Integrity, the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee, and the APDC."They are scheduled to appear before the Team at the Commission's Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 1.
He stated, "The team would investigate the officers' case and suggest appropriate disciplinary actions to be taken against them."
He stated that Olukoyede would stop at nothing to hold the officers accountable for their unprofessional behaviour.
