Enugu Senator Okey Ezea is dead

The Senator representing the Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Barrister Okey Ezea, widely known as Ideke, has passed away. Reports indicate that he died on Tuesday.

Sources reveal that he was in the United Kingdom receiving medical treatment before his passing.

An elder statesman and close associate, Chief Nkem Ossai, confirmed the news and described the late Ezea as a man with a generous spirit who will be profoundly missed by his constituents.

He mentioned that the news has cast a shadow of mourning over Nsukka and the entire Enugu North zone. Residents and supporters are in shock over his unexpected death, particularly as he had recently made a full recovery from a partial stroke just three months prior.

He remarked, “It’s a tragic day. Nsukka is in mourning. Enugu North has lost a committed individual who pledged to restore and advance his senatorial zone. The atmosphere is heavy since the news emerged.

“The passing of Senator Okey Ezea represents a considerable loss to the political scene in Enugu State, and his contributions will be cherished by many.”

Senator Ezea was the last remaining member of the Labour Party in the National Assembly from Enugu State, as other legislators from the state have switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
