Euro 2024: Haaland, Rashford, 20 other big stars to miss out

Anticipation is growing for the football showcase that will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024, as the UEFA Euro 2024 competition draws near.

Even though the competition is expected to display the finest players in Europe, a number of well-known players will be conspicuously absent because of various circumstances, such as their managers benching them or their countries' failure to qualify.

One of the most prolific attackers in international football, Erling Haaland of Norway, is at the top of the list of elite players who will not be participating in Euro 2024. Fans who were excitedly anticipating Haaland and fellow countryman Martin Odegaard's possible effect on the big stage will surely be disappointed by their absence.

Even with their abundance of quality, England will be lacking Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish, Reece James, Harry Maguire, James Maddison, Jadon Sancho and Ben White, as head coach Gareth Southgate named his final team omitting them.

Germany, the host nation, will also be missing some key figures, with Mats Hummels and Serge Gnabry absent.

Thibaut Courtois of Belgium, Lucas Hernandez and Christopher Nkunku of France, Pablo Gavi of Spain, David Alaba of Austria, Sandro Tonali of Italy, Raphael Guerreiro of Portugal, and Alexander Isak of Sweden are among the other prominent absentees.

Even without these celebrities, the Euro 2024 competition promises to be an exciting show.

Germany, the host country, is excited to make an impression on home territory. In 2018, Germany defeated Turkey in a bid to host the famous event, which was viewed as choosing a "safer" alternative.

The competition is scheduled to begin on June 14 in Munich and end on July 14 with the final in Berlin.
