FG cautions Nigerians against fake recruitment letter circulating on social media

A phony recruiting letter that is making the rounds on social media has been denied by the Federal Government, alerting Nigerians—especially those looking for work—to exercise caution and avoid falling for scammers.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board issued an official statement on Tuesday in which AM Jibril, the board's secretary, explained that although the recruitment process for the four paramilitary services it oversees has received presidential approval, the actual recruitment process has not yet begun.

The Board reaffirmed that no fees would be needed at any point during the process and that all legitimate recruitment announcements would be published in national media and other reputable channels.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has taken notice of a letter that has been making the rounds on social media regarding its hiring procedure, according to the statement.

“It is important to inform the general public that, though there is Presidential approval for the recruitment of personnel in the four paramilitary services under its purview, there are a series of processes which lead to the actual recruitment exercise.

“The Board wishes to reiterate that for all its recruitment processes, appropriate notifications will be made via adverts in the national dailies, and the process will be carried out fairly and transparently, with no payment of any fee.

“Members of the public were urged to ignore the fake letter and remain vigilant against the activities of recruitment racketeers targeting unsuspecting citizens.

“To this effect, members of the public should be wary of recruitment racketeers who may try to take advantage of unsuspecting job seekers to rob them of their hard-earned resources.”
