In the second quarter of 2024, TikTok revealed that over 2.1 million videos from Nigeria had been removed for breaking community guidelines.

This move is a component of the company's continuous efforts to improve user safety on the platform and content management.

Removing the videos accounts for less than 1 percent of all uploads made in Nigeria during the reporting period, according to the Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Tuesday.

"Key findings reveal that 90.7% of these films were taken down within 24 hours, and 99.1% of these movies were proactively removed before viewers reported them. These numbers demonstrate TikTok's dedication to preventing hazardous content and guaranteeing a safer platform for its Nigerian consumers, the report stated.The Chinese-owned video platform reaffirmed its commitment to openness and platform security for its varied user base in Nigeria and throughout the world by saying it would keep investing in technologies meant to enhance content moderation and comprehend possible dangers.

According to TikTok, it eliminated over 178 million videos globally in June 2024, with automated technologies helping to remove 144 million of those videos.

The short-form mobile video platform TikTok claimed to be "more efficient than ever at eliminating hazardous content before viewers encounter it,” with a proactive detection rate of 98.2% internationally.
