Kwara police warn residents against currency swap
The Kwara State Police Command has warned residents to desist from any plan or action to engage in currency swap in any part of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, Ajayi Okasanmi, on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Paul Odama.
He disclosed intelligence available to the command indicated that hoodlums had perfected plans to replicate the lawlessness that was unleashed on some banks in some states of the country, owing to the crisis emanating from the naira note swap that is ongoing in Nigeria at present, which, according to him, the government is doing all within its power to normalise.
Odama advised those with such plans to change their minds as anyone apprehended for going against the law will be apprehended.
He said the police command has mandated thorough patrols of banks and other financial facilities across the State.
“The command wishes to assure the good people of Kwara State of the command’s capacity to deal ruthlessly with any lawbreaker.
“Criminals are therefore advised to shelve any such dastardly idea. A word, they say, is enough for the wise,” he said.
