Lagos monarch dies after Eid prayers

Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, the Osolo of Isolo in Lagos State, has passed away.
Shortly after participating in Wednesday's Eid prayers, the monarch passed away.

In a statement that our correspondent was able to view, Olasoju Adebayo, the Chairman of the Isolo Local Council Development Area, acknowledged his passing.

He declared that the dead king would be buried in accordance with Islamic customs by 4 p.m.

"I have been instructed by Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to formally announce the passing of Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom, today, April 10, 2024," the statement said. He was 64 years old.

"In accordance with Islamic customs, he will be buried today at his mansion, 3/5 Akinbaye Street, Isolo, by 4 p.m. May peace be upon his soul.

Olasoju, however, did not disclose the cause of his death.

The monarch spent 20 years on the throne.
