Lion’s den: Man shocked by sordid state of University of Nigeria hostel room

Justus, a member on X.com who goes by LordJustusN, has expressed his displeasure with the horrible conditions of the Eni Njọkụ Hostel at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Justus revealed that when he had gone to the hostel to look at the room his cousin was given, he had seen horrible conditions.

He posted a video and stated, "My cousin is expected to return to University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) for his academic career." I visited the hostel today to see it, and he paid for it.

This is what I observed. Eni Njọk㻥 Hostel. They told me that pigs don't reside there when I asked. I'm not sure who needs to be cursed, but you are!

"I'll shock you with this: while other rooms were unlocked when I arrived to check on my cousin, this one was locked.

"I asked the kids in the room next to me who had the keys, and they told me it was locked since the space was reserved for Student Union leaders. Thus, it's the greatest.

In response, a number of former students and staff members related their own horrifying hostel experience.

"I studied in UNN, and I can tell you for free that more than 80% of guys live off-campus because boys' hostels are a mess," tweeted Urch d'Billionaire, an X.com user who goes by the handle #ruby_darl.

"There could be as many as fourteen guys in the room that you are now viewing. Usually, I was curious about how they survived those hostels.''
#automatedLZ tweeter alZ said, "This one nah duplex nah compared to wetin I don see for that UNN."

"Exactly how it was 13 years ago," stated Emeka Ikeche, who blogs under the handle #EmekaIkeche.
Emma.Ai, also known as #EmarhNFT, posted on social media, saying, "I recall the time I aspired to be admitted to UNN Nsukka.

"For two days, I remained in the hostel with a friend and convinced myself that nothing would ever force me to attend this university.

"I deliberately did not pass the entrance exam."

Chidozie, who blogs on X.com under the handle #okorochidozie1, stated, "I concur with you. This hostel, especially the ground floor, is the worst at UNN.

"I lived there throughout my first year and understood what you were talking about. But now, it's much worse.
"I only spent a month in my room before moving out to stay on the fourth floor with a friend.

"We painted the room, added a floor rug, changed the curtain, and pimped out the space with money." We transformed it into a livable space.

"You notice those run-down rooms? Most of the students who stay there are first-years. Even some rooms have air conditioning. In terms of the wellbeing of students, UNN must improve.
