Man Who Made Threats To Kill Chairman of EFCC Arrested
Because Kayode Cole threatened to kill Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), agents of the EFCC have taken Cole into custody.
Cole was taken into custody at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, according to EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale.
In a comment on a story published on February 1, 2024, by well-known Instagram blogger Instablog9ja, the suspect threatened to kill himself using his page handle, "1billionsecretss."
"A Religious Sect Is Laundering Money for Terrorists" was the caption for a story published on Instablog9ja. The EFCC Chairman was the recipient of the N7 billion fraud proceeds that we tracked down.
Cole predicted that the EFCC chairman would pass away in six months in response to comments on Instablog9ja.
"He's going to die in six months. Remember what I said—this man will be dead in six months," he uttered.
The suspect stated during questioning that he was only "chasing clout."
The anti-graft panel stated that he will be turned over to the proper authorities for additional inquiry and legal action.
Recall that Olukoyede disclosed during a one-day discussion on "Youth, Religion, and the Fight against Corruption" on Wednesday, January 30, 2024, at the Musa Yar'Adua Centre, Abuja, that the commission had discovered how a Nigerian religious sect is financing terrorism.
The head of the EFCC added that after money suspected of being laundered was linked to the organization's bank account, it was discovered that another religious organisation was harbouring a money launderer.
