Motorist slumps while driving, dies in hospital
A commercial driver identified as Taiwo Adebola, who reportedly collapsed while driving along the Epe Road in Lagos State, has died in the hospital.
The Lagos-bound driver was driving an Opel Zafira wagon with registration number KJA584HU when he was reported to have slumped while steering the wheel on Friday.
Our correspondent learnt that the Chairman of the Road Transport Association of Nigeria, Fari Branch, Omotayo Adekoya, rushed to the scene and promptly took the driver to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode for treatment.
However, the Ogun State Police Command said Adebola was later confirmed dead moments later.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said there was neither a violent mark on the deceased victim nor any suspicious foul play after he was inspected by the officers of the Ilese Police Division.
“There was no mark of violence on the corpse when our officers visited the scene. In the meantime, the corpse has been deposited at the Chelsea Mortuary in Okeowo for autopsy. We are also making efforts to contact the bereaved family.”
