NUC accredits 11 courses in Ajayi Crowther varsity
Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State has received full accreditation for 11 more programmes from seven different faculties by the National Universities Commission.
This development was revealed on Tuesday in a statement that referenced a June 6, 2024, letter from the institution to the NUC.
Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Computing Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Survey and Geo-informatics, Economics, Peace, Strategic and Conflict Resolution are among the recently accredited programmes. Furthermore, Radiation Science and Radiography were granted provisional certification.
The NUC claims that the accreditation was given in compliance with Section 10(l) of the Education Act, which gives the commission the authority to accredit and set minimum academic requirements for degrees offered in Nigerian institutions.
Prof. Timothy Adebayo, vice-chancellor of ACU, stated his delight at the news, stating, “It is with immense pleasure that I announce the recent accreditation of additional courses by the Nigeria Universities Commission.
"This noteworthy accomplishment demonstrates the University's unwavering dedication to offering top-notch instruction and upholding the highest standards of academic excellence."
The Vice-Chancellor underlined how stringent the accreditation procedure is, involving extensive NUC evaluations.
He continued, "Our courses have met and exceeded these standards, which is a testament to our faculty, staff, and students' hard work, dedication, and expertise."
Professor Adebayo went on to emphasise the significance of this accomplishment for the students at the university and the larger society.
"Our students obtain an education that is known and valued both nationally and internationally thanks to accredited courses. It improves their career prospects in a global labour market that is becoming more and more competitive and offers avenues for them to pursue higher education," he stated.
When the university was informed of the impending accrediting exercise by the NUC's Executive Secretary in September 2023, the accreditation procedure got underway.
Then, from October to December, NUC teams visited ACU to evaluate the school's preparedness and adherence to accreditation requirements.
