Ooni unveils new hospital, promises free treatment for emergencies

The Equity Health Group is a forward-thinking healthcare conglomerate whose mission is to provide accessible, high-quality medical services globally, fostering wellness and medical excellence within communities. The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, unveiled the facility.

In Lagos State, the facility that opens to the public today (Monday) will formally debut on July 5 and 6, 2024.

A statement that was made public on Monday stated this.

According to the statement, the esteemed monarch wants to demonstrate that life in general and humanity in particular are valuable assets and that no patient should be denied access to high-quality care because of their inability to pay, especially during crises.
This development is a direct result of the monarch's engagement and enormous investment in Nigeria's health sector since assuming the throne, as evidenced by the establishment of a professional team and the gathering of respectable medical research organisations, laboratories, and other institutions to guarantee the safety of Nigerians during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement stated that the Ooni said, "The last pandemic drew my attention to a lot of untapped medical potentials of we Black people, especially here on the throne of Oduduwa, these stuff (Herbs and its likes) are what saved us from experiencing major challenges faced by most developed countries when no one regardless of riches or status could travel to seek medical attention abroad." This was said while speaking to reporters about the inspiration behind the healthcare conglomerate.

"I had to assemble a group of experts, mostly from the medical field and seasoned practitioners of traditional herbal and alternative medicine, who discussed how to make the most of our regional herbal medicine resources. This resulted in the development of a powerful method that allows for the production of advantageous goods with which we combated and defeated the pandemic were discovered.
"We have come this far thanks to our partnership with the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, and leading medical research institutions in the nation."

"I recall creating the Pan African Foundation for Indigenous Medical Research and Development in 2020, in conjunction with the commemoration of African Traditional Medicine Day," he continued. These endeavours have now culminated in the creation of Equity Health Group, a global diagnostic and hospital hub including numerous interconnected medical solution sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, vaccine development, and drug manufacturing. The wonderful thing about it is that this plant would use locally sourced ingredients, strengthening the Naira and increasing productivity in the nation.
"With a broad range of companies, Equity Health Group is at the forefront of healthcare innovation. With the help of these subsidiaries, we hope to transform healthcare delivery and advance wellbeing around the world. At Equity Health Group, we value honesty, innovation, and patient-centered treatment.

"No matter the patient's financial situation, our motto is to treat all emergencies with dignity and respect for human life. We won't ask a dying patient for paperwork or money; instead, we will try to save lives first.

To the glory of God, I co-own the business with a young visionary entrepreneur named Dozy Mmobuosi. We share a common goal of rescuing the African American population from its excessive reliance on Western medicine. Together, we combined efforts to make it a world-class medical institution and diagnostic centre.
"I'm happy to let you know that the business has three subsidiaries. The Equity Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre is a full-service hospital and diagnostic facility that prioritises personalised care and cutting-edge medical technologies. It is now located in Lagos State, but there are plans to expand it throughout the nation and even to the United Kingdom.

"The company that will use cutting-edge technology to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical goods and services is Equity Pharmaceuticals, which makes up the second arm. Not to be overlooked is the Equity Vaccine Laboratories, a division dedicated to vaccine production and research for the security of world health. By doing this, we want to develop vaccinations that will address urgent global health issues and guarantee a safer future for everybody.

"To achieve the goals of this organisation, we plan to include our higher education institutions, including the medical departments of respectable universities such as Ojaja University, Eyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, which I own. This will strengthen the bond between "town and gown," increasing our graduates' output.

The National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria's co-chair, Ooni Ogunwusi, came to the conclusion that Nigerians would have an easy place to end the practice of travelling abroad for medical care due to the country's improved health facilities, particularly thanks to the involvement of the private sector like Equity Health Group.

In addition to offering Nigerians superior medical care in accordance with international best practices, Equity Health Group is set up to actively participate in global medical research especially in the area of vaccine production/development to safeguard global health. As the giant of Africa, Nigeria should be at the forefront of vital global medical conversations like the development of vaccines against malaria disease upon which we cannot afford to be dependent on the Western world.
"Even though I'm not a chemist or a medical expert, I firmly think that we can alter the perception of rich countries' excessive reliance on medical tourism. Beyond the field of study, Nigeria and Africa have the potential to play a significant role as global power brokers in the pharmaceutical and medical sectors, the Ooni stated.
