Otti lifts embargo on promotion at Abia polytechnic
The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has removed the decade-long ban on staff promotions at Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly known as Abia Polytechnic) in Aba, which was imposed by the previous state administration.
This information was shared by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ukoha Njoku, in a statement issued in Umuahia on Tuesday.
Njoku further noted that the governor has authorized the release of all pending promotions for the institution's staff.
Additionally, the governor has eliminated the practice of "National Promotions" within the polytechnic.
He mentioned that the staff of the polytechnic expressed their gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his commitment to settle the 33 months of salary arrears owed to them by the former administration.
“They also expressed their appreciation for the timely payment of their salaries and for the initiatives taken to enhance the institution's infrastructure and standards,” Ukoha stated.
