Oyebanji appoints Prof. Omojola as the new Vice-Chancellor of BOUESTI.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has sanctioned the appointment of Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola as the new Vice Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).
Omojola, a Professor of Animal Science specializing in Animal Products and Processing/Food Safety, was, prior to this appointment, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
The announcement regarding the appointment was made in a statement released on Monday by Olayinka Oyebode, Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor.
Prof Omojola’s role as Vice Chancellor is effective immediately.
He succeeds Prof Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, whose term as Vice Chancellor of the University concludes on January 6, 2026.
Prof Andrew Babatunde Omojola was born in Usi-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State on August 14, 1962. He completed his secondary education at Notre Dame College, Usi-Ekiti from 1976 to 1980.
He subsequently enrolled at the University of Ibadan in 1984, where he earned a Second Class (Upper division) degree in Animal Science in 1988. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Ibadan in 1991 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science from the same institution in 1997.
Prof Omojola commenced his academic career as a Lecturer II at the University of Ibadan in 1997, advancing through the ranks to become a Professor in 2011.
He has held the position of Visiting Professor at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana from 2013 to 2019; served as an External Examiner at the University of Calabar from 2012 to 2016; and at Osun State University, Osogbo from 2015 to 2018.
Prof Omojola has also acted as Head of the Animal Products and Processing Unit in the Animal Science Department at the University of Ibadan (2000-2023); Director of the UI Teaching and Research Farm (2016-2018); a Member of the University of Ibadan Senate (2011-present); and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ibadan (2023-present). Additionally, he has served as Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Heads of Departments and Directors.
Governor Oyebanji, serving as the Visitor to the University, encourages the newly appointed Vice Chancellor to leverage his extensive experience in academia and seasoned administrative skills to enhance the University’s status as a world-class institution of learning, while also extending his best wishes for a successful tenure.
The Governor expresses gratitude to the outgoing Vice Chancellor of BOUESTI, Prof Olufemi Adeoluwa, for his distinguished service to the University and wishes him success in his future pursuits.
