Police arrest three with human skull in Imo

Three guys have been taken into custody by the Imo State Police Command in the Okigwe Local Government Area's Ogii community on suspicion of possessing a human skull.

Following a tip from locals, the suspects—who were identified as Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Patrick Okoere (29), were taken into custody.

Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for Imo State police, stated in a statement on Tuesday that the three were taken into custody on 3 February along the Okigwe-Umuahia Motorway while wearing white clothing, a native hen and a human skull.

A suspect named Okoye stated that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had requested that he obtain a human skull for use in a land dispute.

According to reports, he discovered it along a riverbank in a region notorious for kidnappings.

According to the statement, "On 3/02/2025, Okigwe divisional headquarters officers, working with Ogii community members, arrested three suspects who were found in possession of a human skull, a native hen, and white clothing along the Okigwe-Umuahia Express Road as part of the Imo State Police Command's ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the state."

"An investigation is presently underway into the three people who were arrested: Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Patrick Okoere (29)." Patrick claimed during interrogation that he had been requested to obtain a human skull by his uncle, Osunta Oko. The command has received reports of kidnappings in the Okigwe-Umuahia Motorway, where he said he recovered it beside a riverside.

In relation to this unsettling incidence, Osunta Oko and other potential collaborators are being relentlessly pursued by the Imo State Police Command. The owner of the skull is also being identified through a DNA study.

"CP Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police, reminded the public that the Command is steadfast in its resolve to protect everyone's safety and security. He underlined that after the inquiry is over, justice will be done and the suspects will be prosecuted.

As the investigation progresses, Okoye promised to keep the public informed.
