Police investigate killing of 14-year-old boy for ritual in Ibadan
The Oyo State Police Command reports that it has started looking into Malik Kareem's 14-year-old death in Ibadan, where he was allegedly involved in a money ritual.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ibadan, the command's Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, made this statement.
In order to hold those responsible for the incident accountable, Osifeso stated that the command was made aware of it and had launched an investigation right away.
He promised the public that after the investigation was over, a report on the situation would be made accessible.
According to information obtained by NAN, the deceased's friends in the Olorisaoko community in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state killed and beheaded him on Saturday, presumably for ritualistic reasons.
On the day of the incident, the deceased and three of his pals made touch with a cleric who is currently at large for a money ritual, according to a source who spoke to NAN under anonymity.
The dead was not aware, according to the source, that the three other youngsters had made a deal with the cleric to have him killed in exchange for money.
Upon their arrival, the deceased was beheaded, strangled, and incinerated.
When we learnt about the incident, we immediately went to the spot.
The source stated, "The victim's lifeless body was on the ground, without a head, and in a pool of his own blood. When we got there, the cleric had already fled."
According to information obtained by NAN, some unidentified young people in the neighbourhood had since set fire to the cleric's residence.
