Poll results: Netizens bicker over Atiku, Obi pairing ahead of 2027 election

A recent poll asking respondents if they would support former vice president Atiku Abubakar and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, for president was supported by netizens on the social media sites X, Facebook, and Instagram.

The poll was conducted after news broke on Monday about Obi's visit to the former vice president at his Abuja home.

In the 2019 general elections, Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party ran alongside Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate.

But in 2022, the pair broke up and parted ways, with Obi joining the LP, the nation's second-strongest opposition group.
Surprisingly, on his "Abuja tour," Obi had meetings with other PDP leaders, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido.

In response to the poll question, "Atikulates and Obidients, this poll is for you," 70% of users selected "No," while the remaining 30% indicated their support. Would you be in favour of a Peoples Democratic Party-Labour Party ticket that included Atiku as the presidential candidate and Obi as the vice presidential candidate, given the recent unplanned meeting between the two?

According to Analysis Online, the reasons behind the "no" votes were twofold: either Obi was preferred as the presidential candidate and Atiku as his running mate, or the participants didn't want the PDP and LP candidates to be paired together.
"Obidients will support the ticket with #PeterObi as the presidential candidate and #atiku as the vice presidential candidate," tweeted Victor Wolemonwu, a user on X. Alternatively, By endorsing Obi and his running companion in 2027, Atiku can demonstrate his maturity as a statesman. We shall always cherish his sense of patriotism.

With the handle #Big_Ben_21, another tweep named BIG_BEN expressed his opinion that Atiku ought to be the big dad in the 2027 elections. Anything not listed there is not acceptable.

"If Obi is not the presidential candidate, forget about it," tweeted Olasupo Jakes, BSc (Hons), RPN, one of the X users.

"Atiku should step down for Obi," said Joel Peter, a Facebook user. He has attempted, so if at all possible, he ought to be Obi's vice or retire to Dubai.

"Both of them will lose either side," stated an Instagram user under the handle #adesina8478. They are all unfit to serve as president. Quoting me

What is wrong with Atiku? Help Obi if you can, but don't run, asked user diip_z.

"Will vote them if Obi is the main candidate," wrote another user, kemisolaone1.
"If Obi tries this nonsense, Sowore is the only hope," stated obd_logistic, one user.
