Two pastors found in possession of skulls, caskets, and other items.

Two pastors, Prophet Bassey Umoren (60) and Prophet Elijah Anietie (50), have been paraded by the Rivers State Police Command after they were found in their respective churches in possession of fetish objects including as carved skeletons, caskets, monkey skulls, and other spiritual materials.

The founders of God's Deliverance Apostolic Church and Power House of Glory International Gospel Church, both situated along Eneka Road in Rumunduru, were captured by young people from the Rumunduru community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

This was revealed on Thursday by Grace Iringe-Koko, the State Police Public Relations Officer, during the suspects' parading at the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt.

According to Iringe-Koko, "This case, which has been trending on social media, involves two pastors who were reported by the Rumunduru community's youths on January 20, 2025, at around 9 am, under the leadership of their youth leader, Henry Worlu."

"The suspects, Prophet Elijah Anietie and Prophet Umoren Bassey, both of Akwa Ibom State origin, were brought by the youths and turned over to the police for a covert investigation."

She presented a number of photographs, some of which featured children, miniature caskets, spiritual books, carved images, wooden skulls, crosses, and other ceremonial objects that were found in their churches.

According to the police spokeswoman, enquiries are still being conducted to determine the full scope of their actions and potential victims.

The young people of the Rumunduru village, meanwhile, have received praise for their diligence in revealing the suspects' purported actions, which they said threatened the group's social and spiritual well-being.
