Unizik student who assaulted a lecturer expelled

The female student who allegedly attacked a lecturer, Precious Goddy-Mbakwe, has been expelled by the administration of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK).

Victor Modebelu, interim registrar for UNIZIK, released a statement on Friday outlining the specifics of her dismissal.

It was on Wednesday when Precious was seen on camera fighting with Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the theatrical arts department.

She was found guilty of serious misconduct by the university's senate after a disciplinary process.

According to the university, her behaviour was against regulation 4 of the Students Disciplinary Regulations.

UNIZIK instructed the student to leave the campus right away and return any university property she had in her possession in a letter signed by acting registrar Victor Modebelu.

The letter states, "The Student Disciplinary Committee has reported to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor that your assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies was a gross misconduct and violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR)."

As a result, you have been expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, after the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, acting on behalf of the University Senate, adopted the Committee's decision.

"The ejection is effective right away. You are required to leave the university's grounds right away and return any belongings you may have.
