Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former representative for Delta State's Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, passed away.

The All Progressives Congress chieftain and politician was reported to have died on Wednesday night while watching South Africa vs. Nigeria in the AFCON semi-finals.

"Cairo Ojougboh, a medical doctor, died during the Nigeria vs. South Africa match," a source close to the politician said.

"The incident took place when Nigeria was given a penalty." When SA scored, Dr. Ojougboh reportedly screamed and slumped from a severe heart attack.
His family was still waiting to comment on his passing at the time this report was submitted.

Nonetheless, in a phone interview with PUNCH Online, Agbor Community Union Publicity Secretary Mr. Augustine Ekamagule confirmed the passing of the well-known Delta politician.

He declared, "Ojougboh passed away in Abuja while watching the football game between Nigeria and South Africa, according to Chief Laurence Onyeche, President General of the Agbor Community Union.

“He said that around three in the morning on Thursday, he received a call from a member of the Ojougboh family telling him that Cairo Ojougboh had died.
The family member claimed that as soon as South Africa scored a goal while Ojougboh was watching the game, he slumped and shouted.

"All attempts to bring him back to life failed. His death was announced by his family at around three in the morning.

Ojougboh was regarded as Agbor's top politician up until his passing, and Onyeche claimed that Agbor has lost a voice in Nigerian politics as a result of his passing.

"We extend our sympathies to the Ojougboh family on behalf of the PG and the Agbor Community Union members to whom he belongs.

"Our PG asked me to make a statement and he said Ojougboh was a brave politician who made a name for himself both nationally and locally," he continued.

Allies and colleagues in politics have been mourning the late politician on social media.
President Bola Tinubu and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, have also issued public statements mourning him.
