US billionaire Ramaswamy launches Ohio governor bid after quitting Trump’s govt

One month after leaving US President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, Republican billionaire businessman Vivek Ramaswamy launched his campaign for governor of Ohio on Monday.
Alongside Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and Trump's largest donor, Ramaswamy co-led the DOGE in its effort to drastically reduce federal spending and staffing. In a speech on Monday, Ramaswamy stated, "President Trump is reviving our conviction in America; we need a leader here at home, who will revive our conviction in Ohio.".
Ramaswamy, a former contender in the 2024 presidential primary, later endorsed Trump, who in turn appointed him to the DOGE. Shortly after Trump's inauguration in late January, it was announced that he was leaving the commission.
Reports that he planned to run for governor of the state were already in existence at the time. On Monday night, he received Trump's endorsement.
"I've competed against him and know him well; he is truly unique.".
Trump wrote, "He's Young, Strong, and Smart!" on his Truth Social page. He went on to say, "He has my FULL AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT, will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio, and will never let you down.".
When Ramaswamy defended visas for highly skilled foreign workers, who are frequently employed in Silicon Valley, he sparked controversy among conservatives in late December.
He claimed that because foreign workers don't have an "American culture," which he claimed glorifies mediocrity, employers prefer them.
"A culture that celebrates.".
