Woman slumps, dies while sharing testimony in Lagos church

According to reports, Ifeoma, a 55-year-old woman, passed away soon after she lost consciousness during a testimony at the Ministry Church in the Ejigbo neighbourhood of Lagos State.

She died a few minutes after the incident, which happened on September 8, 2024, during Sunday church at 8:48 a.m.

This was verified on Wednesday by Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police command's spokeswoman.

The 55-year-old woman is said to have gone to the front of the chapel and started to sing hymns of thanksgiving before collapsing.

According to Hundeyin, the 55-year-old was declared dead after being brought to a hospital.

"The Zonal accountant of the Ejigbo church came to the station and reported that Ifeoma suddenly slumped during testimony hour in the church while the service was in progress. Ifeoma had come out singing songs to give her testimony," he said.

She was taken to a neighbouring hospital right away, but was later sent to the General Hospital in Isolo, where it was determined that she had passed away.

Detectives were instructed to accompany the complainant to the hospital based on the report. When they arrived, they were informed that the deceased's husband and relatives had returned her body to Anambra State, where she was originally buried.

A 30-year-old man is said to have drowned in May 2024 after going to Elegushi Beach in Lagos for prayer.
