Junior Pope: Police Recover Three More Bodies From Boat Mishap
Anambra State police have located three more bodies from a boat tragedy involving movie stars.
The crew that perished in the boat accident two days ago included Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo.
Following the boat disaster, some crew members were still missing, but three additional movie cast members' dead had been found, according to Tochukwu Ikenga, a spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command.
The three surviving victims of the tragic boat accident involving a movie cast have had their remains recovered, according to a statement released by the Marine Police of Anambra State Command on Friday.
"Today, April 11, 2024, two of the bodies were found, and this morning, the tide carried the final one in."
The actors' guild officials have also been notified of the recovery, and the bodies have been placed at a mortuary in Asaba, Delta State.
Water commuters should be cautious when travelling, according to state police commissioner Aderemi Adeoye, who was cited by the spokesman.
The commissioner stated that the police are expediting the accident inquiry.
Fillmaker Suspended by Actors Guild
Nigerians, particularly Nollywood fans, are incensed about their deaths and feel that the incident could have been avoided if safety precautions had been taken during the filming of "Another Side of Life."
Following the incident, all filming involving riverine locations and boat trips was prohibited by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). Filmmaker Adamma Luke was also suspended who was producing the ill-fated movie.
AGN president Emeka Rollas announced on Thursday, "The Guild leadership has taken the following decisions: (1) all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are currently suspended indefinitely; (2) no shoot on all locations Nationwide on Thursday, April 11, 2024."
"(3) 'Another Side of Life' is a halted film; (4) until further notice, no actor is permitted to collaborate as a producer with Adamma Luke. (5) May the souls of the departed rest in peace while we continue to look for their bodies.
