Natasha Akpoti’s supporters storm NASS, ask Akpabio to step down
On Wednesday, members of various civil society organizations gathered at the entrance of the National Assembly, demanding the resignation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio to facilitate a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The demonstrators arrived at the assembly gate as early as 8 a.m. in anticipation of the plenary session's resumption.
Among the slogans displayed on their banners were “Akpabio Must Go” and “Protect Women’s Rights.”
Last week, Akpoti-Uduaghan publicly accused Akpabio of targeting her due to her rejection of his sexual advances.
This allegation, made during a live television broadcast, followed a controversy regarding changes in seating arrangements within the Senate that occurred on February 20.
