No regrets criticising Kaduna gov, says suspended women leader
Maryam Suleiman, the suspended Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State, has stated that she does not regret his remarks criticising Governor Uba Sani.
In a phone conversation on Monday, Suleiman said that she was still unfazed by the party suspending her for attacking the governor, referring to it as an act of God.
Following her criticism of the state governor, who had claimed to have inherited a massive debt from his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, the Kaduna State APC leadership on Sunday blasted Suleiman with an indefinite suspension.
El-Rufai left him with $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual commitments, Governor Sani bemoaned during a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday.
According to Sani, the state was left with a thin budget and was unable to cover employee salaries.
But in a widely shared video, the APC women's leader chastised the governor for his comments while speaking in Hausa.
Suleiman accused Governor Sani of poor management in the aforementioned video that was shared on social media, and he was counselled not to blame El-Rufai for his shortcomings.
The Kaduna APC leadership suspended Suleiman on Sunday based on his assault on the governor, citing APC Constitution Article 21, 2 (v).
However, the beleaguered women's leader said that she spoke the truth and that she was unaffected by her suspension in an interview with our correspondent on Monday.
She went on to say that she just learned of her alleged suspension from social media noting that 24 hours after the announcement, she had yet to be served any letter of suspension from her Nasarawa/Malaki Ward.
"I learned of my suspension only from social media. I have not yet received a letter from our party suspending me," she stated.
She declared that the governor's actions were obviously treachery and that she stood by her remarks from the now-viral video.
As said in the contentious video, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai "did everything" to help Uba become a senator and then governor.
She also cautioned the governor against opposing El-Rufai, referring to him as "our leader."
"My criticism of Governor Sani is not anything I regret. For all of it, I am grateful to God.
I discovered my suspension solely through social media. My letter of suspension has not yet been delivered.
"In any event, my remarks on the governor remain unchanged. I have absolutely no regrets. I said what was evident, therefore I wasn't upset by what I did.
As a senator, Governor Uba Sani spearheads the El-Rufai administration's loan acquisition efforts. He had a major hand in that, she continued.
