Obi, LP back Atiku on live broadcast
The Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have supported the request by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for a live broadcast of the proceedings of the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja.
Addressing newsmen after Wednesday’s proceeding, counsel to Obi, Livy Uzoukwu, said it has become imperative to have the proceedings covered live so that Nigerians will have first-hand information on what goes on in the court.
This he made known after the court adjourned the pre-hearing session in their petition, challenging the election of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
Obi and the Labour Party are in total support of the request by Atiku and his party, following the realities on the ground.
The senior lawyer said. “During the hearing of the motion on notice by Atiku and the PDP, Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Mr. Obi will be fully in support”.
He sited that, the courtroom cannot conveniently accommodate 200 people and the 200 people cannot adequately represent Nigerians.
Meanwhile, further pre-hearing sessions in the petition of LP and Obi have been adjourned to May 17 by the Presidential Election Petition Court.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, in a brief ruling, granted the application and fixed next week Wednesday for the continuation of pre-hearing, following the request of Obi’s lawyer and agreement by respondents.
