Power generation reaches 5,713MW - TCN

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that the country's power generation reached 5,713.60 megawatts (MW) on Tuesday.

In its statement, the company indicated that this achievement exceeded the previous generation of 5,543.20 MW recorded on February 14.

It also highlighted that the highest power generation in Nigeria was noted on March 1, 2021, when 5,801.60 MW was documented.

Additionally, TCN reported that the maximum daily energy output increased to 125,542.06 megawatt-hours, surpassing the 125,159.48 MWh recorded last month.

The statement further emphasized that a new milestone for the highest daily energy ever recorded in Nigeria's electricity sector was established yesterday, totaling 125,542.06 megawatt-hours (MWh). This figure exceeds the former record of 125,159.48 MWh set on February 14, 2025, by 382.58 MWh.

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, assured Nigerians that power generation is expected to reach 6,000 MW by December 2024. However, this goal faces challenges due to issues such as vandalism, grid failures, and inadequate power infrastructure.
